TIME MANAGEMENT
Along our project course, we have dealt with our time accordingly, but we chose to document my use of time via paragraph rather than in logs or in benchmarks. We chose this because time logs every day risked taking away from our partner time with each other, since we only share one or two periods with each other off and on, and creating benchmarks wasn’t the best way because it would force not me personally (SJ), but both of us to try to reach a goal we weren’t sure if we could reach because of unforeseen complications. Because of these reasons, we are writing our documentation of time management via paragraphs.
WEEK 1
SJ: Week 1 involved us brainstorming our needed materials, our direction with our social studies, english, and art, and our hopes for our final result. We lacked a lot of background information relating to how the process of aquaponic tanks really worked, and so our first step was to read general information and look into the official resources that provide insight on aquaponic growing. Cassie: Week 1 was the start of the project, so it was mostly trying to get the project through and out of the planning phase. It mostly involved trying to figure out how each subject can fit into the topic of aquaponics. This week solidified the idea of the scientific journal and some of the art portion. WEEK 2 SJ: This week was not a very fast-paced week, but this was the week where ideas became more concrete and we began to gather items needed in order to have something to show for our project process. We began to get ideas for what direction to go in each subject, as well as finalizing our list for our supplies. Cassie: This was also the week we met with Mr. Webb (the ecology teacher). He helped us out with a materials list and explained the science of aquaponics (the nitrogen cycle, plant biology, etc.). He had previous students work on similar projects, so he was very helpful in our learning process. Overall this week was dedicated mostly to learning and doing research (through articles, videos, etc.). This week also solidified the social studies portion and and the art ideas. WEEK 3 SJ: Week 3 was also not very fast-paced, and due to the continued slow accumulation of the parts we needed for our physical aspect of the project, time was mostly poured into research and tank decor creation. Over the third week, I personally worked on laying out website text, working on HTML layout, and constructing the scientific journal Cassie: Worked on sculpting decor, painting the backdrop, and also helped with the text part of the website work. At the end of the week, what we had was a website completed at about 50%, a journal that was laid out and not yet fully written, and fairly completed illustrated backdrop. THANKSGIVING BREAK / FINAL WORK DAY Over the break and the final work day, we were able to complete more website work, add to the scientific journal, as well as created this Weebly backup for the website. We were not able to get our tank in before the final day, so our physical representation shines through less brightly compared to what we learned overall. |
